Jeremiah 6:16 “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” The cry of Jeremiah thunders down the annals of time to remind us that we must stand in the old paths of faith. God has not changed His plan of salvation; nor has He changed His will in regards to sanctification. The Word of God is still the final authority for faith and practice. It is still the source of religious instruction. And it is still God’s Word to man without error and eternally relevant for man. Man is always seeking rest and peace. However, he will not find it apart from the presence of God. The pleading of Jeremiah was that the people would return to the old paths. The sad response of the people: “We will not walk therein.” God is calling for us to return to the old paths – to the old time religion. What will be your response? Will you give your life to Christ? Will you allow Jesus to be the Master and only God in your life? Or will you continually turn to this corrupt, vile, crooked, sin soak world. Luke 13:5 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
