I Timothy 1:8,9 “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” The Apostle Paul is giving a great challenge and some wonderful encouragement to young Timothy. We should not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is still powerful enough to save a soul. Each one of us have great opportunities to lead someone to Christ. God has saved us and called us with an holy calling. We are sanctified so that we may glorify the Lord. It is truly overwhelming to know that the God of heaven would use us to accomplish His will and purpose for mankind. It is not according to our strengths and abilities; but rather by His precious grace. We are victorious in Jesus Christ. We can impact others for Christ. We live in the power of His grace. Acts 4:33 “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” I Thessalonians 1:5 “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”
