Eighty-five times in the Gospel of John we read the words, “Believe,” “Believeth,” or “Believed.” John 1:7 “The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.” John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” Our Christmas cantata this year is “Believe.” Christmas is about faith. The Old Testament saints had faith to believe in the coming of the Messiah. Our faith is built upon the reality of His coming. Jesus Christ fulfilled all prophecy and satisfied the promises of God. Jesus came into this world to seek and to save those who are lost. Christmas is God providing the prefect sacrifice for the redemption of mankind – Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world. We sing: “Noel” celebrating His birth. We sing: “Joy to the World” rejoicing in His reign. We sing: “O Come, All Ye Faithful” expressing our adoration of Him. This Christmas, can you believe that God loves you? Will you received His gift of eternal life? John 20:30 “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
