Luke 22:61 “And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” We often condemn Peter for denying the Lord three times. However, the great question is: “How many times have we denied Christ this week. The Apostle Paul said in Titus 1:16 “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” The word “deny” means; not to accept or reject. Paul is revealing that our actions demonstrate our rejection of Jesus Christ. “Abominable” means: to be detestable. “Disobedient” means: not compliant. “Reprobate” means: not approved or unfit. I John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” To embrace and practice the conduct of the world is to deny the Lord Jesus Christ. John 17:14 “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” The Christian receives direction and instruction from the Word of God. The final authority on our conduct is the pure, unchanging, authority of the Bible. May we walk in close fellowship with Jesus Christ; rather than, denying Him!
