In Matthew chapter 17, the disciples are confronted with a boy who is demon possessed. The father’s desire was that the demon would be cast out by the disciples. However, they had no power to do so. Then Jesus rebukes the demon and it departs from the boy. The disciples question Jesus on why they were not able to cast the demon out. Matthew 17:20,21 “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Faith is a powerful response to the promises of God. Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”
I Peter 1:5 “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God.” Hebrews 11:33 “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.” Luke 17:5 “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.” I believe that God will do the impossible through those who simply have “Faith” to believe.
