John R Rice said, “God’s people should be baptized because God commanded it, not because some church requires it.” Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” Everyone must be Born-again through faith in Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism is a wonderful picture of the new believer identifying with Christ’s sacrifice. It is a public testimony that you have been saved. Matthew 10:32 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” Baptism is a part of fulfilling the great commission. Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” It is truly amazing to watch God transform a life of wickedness and sinful conduct into a life of purity and righteousness. The Christian lives a life of hope based on the promises of God. Baptism is our first step of obedience in to this exciting and joyful new life. Jesus said in John 10:10 “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Acts 8:36,37 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Do you believe? Then you need to be baptized!
