Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” This great prophecy of Isaiah outlines the life of Christ. He identifies His incarnation, His Crucifixion, and His Exaltation. Then he describes the character of Christ. “Wonderful” – His magnificent splendor. “Counsellor” – His divine wisdom. “The mighty God” – His superior power. “The everlasting Father” – His eternal existence. “The Prince of Peace” – His enduring comfort. Our eternal security as a believer is based upon: The majesty of God; the divine knowledge of God; the supernatural power of God; the watch care of God; and the conscious presence of God. As we enter into this Christmas season, we must remember that we are celebrating: “Emmanuel,” God with us. Not only is Christ with us; but, He is coming again to receive us into heaven. I Thessalonians 4:16-18 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
