Genesis 3:21 “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Matthew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Revelation 7:14 “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” From the book of Genesis through the book of Revelation, God has always demonstrated and required the shedding of blood to make atonement for the soul. The redemption of man, past, present, and future, is dependant upon the blood that Jesus Christ shed on Mount Calvary. The sins of man are cleansed. The life of man is changed. The existence of man is eternally blessed. The old hymn that we sing states it plain and clear: “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!” George Whitefield said, “Although believers by nature are far from God, and children of wrath, even as others, yet it is amazing to think how nigh they are brought to him again by the blood of Jesus Christ.”
