Summer is rapidly coming to an end. I can not believe how quickly time seems to pass way. In John 9:4 Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” ll that we may have planned to do in the summer is now simply a missed opportunity. Proverbs 10:5 “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” The Christian life is a life of ceased or missed opportunities. We can serve the Lord with gladness or grumble and grip about our commitments to him. It is for certain that if we want to reap spiritual blessings there must be an effort put forth. Proverbs 30:25 “The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.” Eternal rewards are stored up by personal work now. Eternal salvation comes through trusting Christ now. Jeremiah 8:20 “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” As summer closes, do not put off decisions for Christ that will effect you for all of eternity. Ravi Zacharias said, “Time is the brush of God, as he paints his masterpiece on the heart of humanity.” Harry Ironside said, “Time is given us to use in view of eternity.” Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
