I Corinthians 10:16 “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” What a wonderful truth the Apostle Paul sets forth. Our communion is through the broken body and the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The word “communion” means our fellowship or our association. Every time we gather at the Lord’s Table, we are reminded of the binding union we have with Christ and with each other. I John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” There is no greater demonstration of love than Jesus Christ dying for sinners. Yet, his love in us enables us to love sinners. Sinners saved by grace and sinners that need to be saved by grace. Love is more than an emotion. It is action. Each of us should make an honest effort to show our love for each other. Matthew 5:16 “ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 9:36 “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”
