Adult Sunday School

The strength of any church is the Sunday School department. It is so vitally important that each person in the church learns to study the Word of God in a structured, systematic way. This is achieved through the Sunday School.

We offer several adult Sunday School Classes. They are as follows:

ABC's - Gym - Pastor & Nanci de Juana - This class is designed for the new believer and takes the student from "A to Z" on topics concerning the Christian life.

25-40 yr. olds - Room 302 - Dale & Shari Breed - This class is designed for the singles and married couples in our church and features an indepth systematic study of the Bible.

41-50 years - meeting Room 305 - Jim and Tami Kennedy

51+ years old - Sanctuary - Pastor Weigel
- A systematic study of the Word of God through a variety of Sunday School Curriculums from Striving Together Publications designed to help the believer develop and stronger and closer walk with God.

Deaf class - Room 301 - Mrs. Nancy Yarosh - a class devoted just for the deaf.

In addition to the time spent in the Sunday School classroom, the Sunday School classes also plan activities and fellowship to help encourage one another in the Lord.

Our Youth Ministry provides an atmosphere of real Christian commitment.

In Sunday School, teens enjoy a systematic study in God's word. We offer Sunday School classes for both the Junior and Senior High age levels.

On Wednesday evenings the teens are challenged through the preaching of God's Word in a format designed just for them. They also enjoy fellowship with their peers through the various planned activities, and learn about ministry through witnessing, working in Vacation Bible School, and going on Teen Mission Trips.

Today's teens need to know that God is real and that God cares for them. Our Youth Ministry will strengthen your teen's walk with God.

Retreats & Conferences

Each year our church members attend several retreats, camps and conferences through the year.

A yearly highlight for many men and women in our church is the opportunity to attend either the Men's or the Ladies' Prayer Advance. These truly are times of spiritual refreshment and revival and are always a blessing to those who attend.

Every summer our children and teens head off to the WILDS summer camp. In addition to summer camp, the teens also have annual ski retreats and white water rafting trips and a variety of other activities designed to help our teenagers know their God in a more personal way.

Each fall, many couples in our church attend our annual Couples Retreat. The Couples Retreat is a great get away for couples to refocus on their relationship with each other and the Lord. There is always time for fellowship with other couples as well as free time to allow one-on-one time for each couple.

God's Men & God's Women

Because it is good for the men and ladies of the church to get together and study God's Word, the 2nd Monday of each month is "God's Men" & the 3rd Monday of each month ("God's Women"). These Bible studies meet at the church at 7:00 p.m. Just bring your Bible and notebook. It is a time of spiritual instruction and a time to pray together as men and women of God.

These times allow us encourage one another in the Lord, sing praises to our God and also to receive practical and Biblical instruction that enables us to press on for the Lord

Children's Sunday School

The strength of any church is the Sunday School department. It is so vitally important that each person in the church learns to study the Word of God in a structured systematic way. This is achieved through the Sunday School.

In the Children's department there are graded Sunday School classes for each age group. Our children's classes are an exciting place to discover and learn about God and His Word. Children's classes are offered for the following age divisions:

Nursery, Twos and Threes, Fours and Fives, First and Second, Third and Fourth, Fifth and Sixth.

AWANA Kid's Club

AWANA Kids Club is for boys and girls from four years old through the eighth grade. Handbook time consists of interaction between clubbers and their leaders, as clubbers recite Bible verses from memory and demonstrate comprehension of Bible reading assignments.

There will be a counsel time including singing and Bible based instruction, covering a variety of topics relevant in growing up in, and coping with the pressure of today's society as a Christian.

In addition to the class time, there is also a game time, which offers clubbers the opportunity to participate as team members in activities that develop team spirit, good sportsmanship, coordination skills, and self confidence. Your children will not want to miss out on the exciting opportunities that await them in Masters Clubs!

We hold the AWANA store throughout the year which provides an opportunity for the clubbers to use their "AWANA Bucks" which they have earned throughout the year by bringing a friend, brining their Bible, memorizing verses, demonstrating a Godly spirit and other means. The AWANA Grand Prix is an annual Pinewood Derby competition which allows the clubbers to design their own cars and compete against other clubbers for speed and design awards. This competition is always an exciting time and each clubber looks forward to it in the spring.

Nursery

Our nursery is a special place for your little ones and is an environment that is conducive to help your nursery age children learn about Jesus. Only those of the highest integrity are considered for ministry in this department. Each worker has a love for children and a desire to teach them about Jesus Christ.

Our Nursery is thoroughly cleaned each week to ensure that the room and all equipment is germ free. There are strict guidelines for the workers in regards to the care of the children. We also have established policy concerning infectious diseases.

We are confident that any parent will feel assured that their child will be properly cared for in our well-staffed nursery.

Discipleship

One of the areas of church ministry that is so greatly neglected is Discipleship.

We offer the opportunity for individuals to be discipled in a one on one setting through four 8-week dicipleship books (Milk, Meat, Bread and Fish) helping the new believer to develop a strong foundation which will enable to grow in their faith. New converts are paired with spiritually mature Christians who help them learn doctrine (what the Bible teaches) and the keys to living the victorious consistent Christian life.

If you are a babe in Christ or have never had the opportunity to be part of a discipleship ministry this is an exciting way for you to "...grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". II Peter 3:18.

Children's Church

Children's Church is provided each Sunday during the 11:00 AM Worship Hour for Children ages two through sixth grade. We use an assortment of excellent materials with a fine Biblical standard so that the children are being fed as well as their parents.

Children's Church is an exciting time for youngsters and consists of a variety of activities which include singing, praying, a craft, or game, and of course solid, Biblical teaching.

The Value of One Ministry is a ministry of Ocean County Baptist Church that was started in January 2012 to address the growing crime of sex trafficking of children throughout the U.S.A. The Lord has laid a burden on our hearts to pray for the deliverance and salvation of all victims of this modern day slavery, and to provide a safe, permanent Christ-centered shelter where these children can learn there is a God who loves them and died for them in spite of what society may have labeled them. We are committed to prevention by making people aware. We are also committed to daily prayer as we know that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” (2 Cor. 10:4)

In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: Incline thine ear unto me and save me. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. (Ps. 71: 1-4)

Deaf Ministry

During the 8:30 a.m. Worship Service, 6 p.m. Service and our Wednesday evening service (7 p.m.), we provide an interpreter for the deaf. Every person that comes to church should have the opportunity to clearly hear and understand the preaching of God's Word. This certainly is true for the hearing impaired.

We also offer Sign Language classes for those who desire to communicate with the deaf and possibly be involved in this ministry.

The RU Recovery Program started a Toms River Chapter providing mutual support through RU International for individuals struggling with stubborn, unhealthy habits and destructive behaviors located at Ocean County Baptist Church. This is a bible-based, Christ-centered recovery program designed to rescue, recover, and restore those struggling with such addictive behaviors through the powerful example of the victorious hidden life found only in the Truth.

This program provides the tools to overcome and break the binding chains to obtain complete freedom, finally! The curriculum is comprised of a series of ‘talks’ and challenges which are founded on the promise that only the truth makes free.

RU meets every Friday night from 7:00 – 9:00 PM in Room 305.

Walk-ins are welcome. Those in attendance will have complete anonymity. We are only interested in showing you the only way to truly break free from each of your personal struggles. Please note that minors must be accompanied by an adult.

If you have questions regarding RU, would like to schedule a ride to our local meetings, or would like a brochure for someone you know that is struggling with stubborn, unhealthy habits or destructive behaviors, please call, text or email the Toms River Chapter Director, Bro.
