Matthew 24:42-44 “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” One of the great precursors of the return of Jesus Christ is a disinterest or ignorance of His return. II Peter 3:3,4 “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” The spirit of the age in which we live is becoming more and more disconnected with spiritual things. It would seem that Christians have lost their fervor for soulwinning and preaching. It truly is becoming more difficult to get the unsaved to listen to the gospel. Consequently, we must take heed to the warning of Jesus Christ in regards to a world’s lethargic response to the good news that Jesus saves. Luke 21:28 “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Christian, do not give up hope. These are exciting days of great anticipation. May God continue to stir us with great enthusiasm to preach the Word of God.
