An unknown author made this statement concerning mothers: “It’s the highest, holiest service assumed by humankind. It’s the definition of selfless service. It’s both a daunting responsibility and a glorious opportunity. The divine role of motherhood is a gift from God, and key to His plan of happiness for all His children.” God’s promise concerning Sarah in Genesis 17:16 “And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.” Emerson said, “Men are what their mothers make them.” John Quincy Adams, our sixth president of the United States said, “All that I am my mother made me.” Today we celebrate Mother’s Day. The world seems to diminish the significance of being a mother. They ignore the value of the woman who reproduces life. Yet, God has blessed her with the ability to shape society. God has equipped her to develop Godly leaders. And God has promised to reward her for a life that honors the true, living God. On this Mother’s Day we want to say thank you for your sacrifice of love, your sincere ministry to others, and your testimony of praise to God. We would have to agree with the renowned preacher, Phillips Brooks when he said, “The happiest part of my happy life has been my mother and with God’s help, she will be more than ever.”
