Acts 2:41,42 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” After the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Apostles stood with great boldness and proclaimed the gospel. Peter’s preaching on the day of Pentecost was with great power and passion. The result was three thousand souls saved. The immediate response of the new converts was to identify with Christ through water baptism. They also united together in worship, doctrine, fellowship, and prayers. As true believers in Jesus Christ we have a very strong bond together. II Corinthians 5:14,25 “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” The challenge for the Christian today is to keep our focus on Jesus Christ. The world tries to allure us. Satan tries to defeat us. The flesh tries to tempt us. But Christ has empowered us for great victory. I John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
