A Gallup poll in 1972 showed that 66 percent of Americans opposed the legalization of abortion. However, in 1973 seven U.S. Supreme Court justices imposed their beliefs on the nation by legalizing abortion. The consequence of this ungodly and wicked decision is the murder of more than 59 million babies. Presently, 18% of pregnancies in America are terminated by abortion. In 2017 the birth rate in America dropped to its lowest historical level — for the first time the birth rate is below “replacement level.” This creates a dangerous social and economic strain. We must be reminded of the value of life. Psalm 139:13-19 “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.” We must never forget that life begins at conception and that every life is a gift from God. Since God is the author of life, then man has no right to end it. Everyone has value and worth through the creative power of God.
